AnodeFlex In-Line-Splice Kit
· AnodeFlex In-Line Splice Kits are designed to connect together two AnodeFlex anode strands or AnodeFlex to a lead wire. The heat-shrinkable tubing, sealant and accessories have been specifically designed to environmentally protect the electrical connection in direct burial soil applications during the whole anode life.
AnodeFlex End Cap Splice Kit
· The AnodeFlex End Cap Splice Kit is designed to seal the exposed end of an AnodeFlex anode circuit. The heat-shrinkable tubing, sealant and accessories have been specifically designed to environmentally protect the termination in direct burial soil applications during the entire anode life.
AnodeFlex Tee Splice Kit
· The AnodeFlex Tee Splice kit is designed for 3-way connections of the AnodeFlex anode strand and lead wires. The splice consists of a heat shrinkable tee boot, factory installed over a crimped 3-way connection of anode lead wire double coated with a high-molecular-weight polyethylene insulation. Field installation of the splice simply entails crimping AnodeFlex anode(s) or lead wire(s) to each of the three legs of the tee, and sealing each connection with mastic and heat shrinkable sleeves.
The long term performance of AnodeFlex is conditional upon keeping the base copper conductor and electrical connection isolated from water. Only Berry Plastics designed splice kits are recommended for any connection to AnodeFlex. The sealing performance has been tested for over 5 years of real time accelerated tests. Field and lifetime experience with this product now exceeds 20 years.
The heat-shrinkable components are made of a radiation-crosslinked polymer. The cable and anode are wrapped with mastic, which flows when heated to ensure a very tight seal. When the sleeve is heated with a torch, or a heat gun, it shrinks tightly around the anode. Once installed, the In-Line splice kit withstands the normal wear and tear of a construction environment and is extremely corrosion resistant. Impact, internal pressure and penetration resistance have all been tested following the telecommunication requirements for telephone cable splices. The installation is easy and can be completed in a few minutes by a trained technician.
