The gauge fits neatly into a leather case, and can be easily carried in one's pocket. It will serve as a constant guide for judging the condition of pipe. Useful formulas, tables, and data giving O.D., wall thickness, and weight per foot for various pipes are etched on the gauge. It should be in the hands of every field superintendent, engineer or foreman working with pipe.
The Pipe Pit gauge is made of 0.50" highly polished stainless steel - is about 2-11/16" wide and 5-1/4" long, which is vest-pocket size. The indicator arm has a stylus which fits into the pits of pipe being measured. A guide is fastened to the gauge to protect and guide the indicator arm. The scale on the right of the guide is shown as an arc and is expressed in sixteenths of an inch and in mils (thousandths of an inch). The gauge weighs 8 ounces.
